The Things We Did

There were several basic activities, which were eating, talking, drinking and shopping, plus a few "special" activities, including the Jimmy Buffett questionaire, puzzle making, and a one item auction. All, except eating, are illustrated here. You'll notice that Susan Durst is wearing fetching Macaw feathers. Sunday night she left her feathers in the hospitality room, where people were busily pursuing the talking and drinking options, and said we could keep them. Someone put a feather in their hair. Someone put a feather in someone else's hair. Before you could say "Who are these screwballs?" everyone had a feather in their hair, and went right on talking. A bit later Heather Gilbert arrived and, without a single lifted eyebrow or puzzled question, she selected a feather, stuck it in her hair, sat down, and began talking. Heather was one of the leading shoppers. You can see her and Barb Watson emerging from a store in Arroyo Grande. Barb has her package hidden behind her, and Susan Pinedo is still in the store. We had to send Barb back to drag her out. Since I took the picture you can't see my bag of fudge, purchased earlier.

The little group industriously doing their paperwork are trying to fill in the answers to the Jimmy Buffett quiz. I think Paula won the title of most industrious, if not the grand prize (I don't remember what the grand prize was, but I won a consolation prize, which was a fancy candy bar). Cheryl didn't win a prize for finishing the puzzle, but I'm sure she was amply rewarded by a sense of accomplishment. You can see the puzzle box behind Gordon's shoulder. And Maureen Oxley is fervently auctioning off a string of mixed pig and chili lights. Maria Wetzel paid dearly for this string of lights, but then Heather Gilbert entered into complicated negotiations which resulted in her gaining possession of the pigs and a still greater contribution to the scholarship fund for T02. Everyone was happy, except I got scared by the pigs when we were packing up to leave and saw them waiting to go in the car. I thought giant maggots had invaded the shopping bags.
